Transonic is an immersive audio-visual performance that explores the fluid boundaries between sound, culture, and perception. At its core, the project blends ancient and contemporary worlds through generative visuals and richly textured soundscapes. Using 3D scans of ancient sculptures from diverse cultural traditions, the visuals are brought to life in real time—animated with light, motion, and algorithmic transformations.

The making of Transonic is rooted in both artistic research and technical experimentation. The project begins with 3D scans of ancient sculptures sourced from open-access digital archives and cultural institutions. These artifacts—drawn from a range of civilizations—are selected for their symbolic and aesthetic resonance. Once digitized, they are processed and animated using TouchDesigner, a real-time visual programming platform that enables generative, reactive visuals.

Each sculpture is not simply visualized, but reinterpreted through motion, lighting, and procedural effects, allowing the digital forms to evolve organically in response to sound and time. The visual layer is tightly synced with a custom-composed soundscape built using Ableton Live, layered with field recordings gathered from both natural environments and urban landscapes across different regions. These recordings create a textured sonic world that enhances the thematic focus on cultural fluidity and ecological presence.

MIDI controllers and sound interfaces are used in live performances to manipulate both audio and visuals, allowing for improvisation and interaction. The performance is not pre-rendered, but generated in real time, making each presentation of Transonic a unique experience shaped by its environment and the artist’s live input.
